Our Artisan bread company breadsticks contain the finest ingredients sourced from Italy using the classic combinations of wheat flour, palm oil, and yeast. Wheat flour allows dough to be more easily elasticated and hold its well known stick shape when baked.
Palm oil may have a bad reputation for causing deforestation but the palm oil used in our classic breadstick is part of the RSPO (Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil), ensuring all the palm oil we use comes from a fully sustainable source.
The ingredients are mixed to form a dough. The dough then traditionally gets kneaded by hand until the required consistency has been reached becomes elasticated and soft. Once this has been achieved to dough is split up into smaller pieces then hand rolled. This process gives them the well-known stick shape and they are slowly baked in the traditional way until golden brown.
Breadsticks tend to be packaged in cardboard boxes that are opaque removing the ability to see the product inside. The Artisan Bread Company breadsticks are wrapped in a clear polypropylene film which is fully recyclable and enables you to see the full beauty of the product inside.
Once opened we recommend keeping them stored in a sealed container out of direct sunlight to ensure they stay fresher for longer.
Comparing our breadstick to other basic breadsticks, they have a much superior look about them. The product clearly shows that they have been hand rolled as they are less uniform and are thinner at the ends and in the middles. By rolling the breadstick it created a twisted look which visually gives a rustic impression and when you bite into the classic breadstick it feels light and crispy .
Breadsticks are well known for being used for dipping. However, they are extremely versatile and can do so much more such as crunching them down and adding to salads and are a great alternative breadcrumb if crushed down finely enough.
