So, what is the difference between a cracker and an oat biscuit?

A cracker is a flat, dry, baked food made with layered dough. Flavouring and seasonings can be added to the dough or sprinkled on top before baking.

Oat biscuits are made from a wet mix of oatmeal, water, butter, salt, and flavouring.  This mix is compressed and shaped before being baked. Oat biscuit texture can be rough to fine depending on how the oats are ground.

Our crunchy Oat Biscuits are made in the UK, in the West Country, using a traditional process using only the finest fine milled oats.  The biscuits are formed by being pressed into circular shapes engraved into a huge metal cylinder. It is a proper biscuit that will make anything you choose to accompany it so much better.

We use traditional methods and even the biscuit forming machine dates back to the 1950’s and a lot of the process is still manual with bakers at the helm ensuring the best of the best products are produced in true artisan style.  Even the biscuits are still hand packed which is a rarity nowadays.  The bakery has a real family feel, and you will even find several generations of the same family working on the production line and in the kitchens.

You can go traditional and just add a chunk of Cheddar cheese with some farmhouse chutney, or relish, and enjoy …. or you could go to the next level and smother in full fat cream cheese and add a topping of your choice, why not go as decadent as you would like.

These make an excellent versatile appetiser to enjoy alone, or with friends at a party – a perfect partner to round off dinner with a fabulous wine, or perhaps some port.
